The visit to the Howard Johnson Hotel in Bur Dubai was a timeless experience as it reminded me of how buildings used to be during the mid 90’s. Kebab Korner is one of the three in house restaurants which serves a variety of mouth watering Indian delicacies with live music sessions in evening time.
Overall ambience of the restaurant seems to be up to modern standards being completely inspired from red colored background with dim lighting in order to create a atmosphere of fine dining. The furniture seem to be cozy with with lot of use of wooden elements. Door seems to be the center piece of attraction because it seems to be handcrafted and reminds me of Indian traditional design from Rajasthan.
In the beginning of the dining you will always be served a complimentary sauce and papad. Then moving on to soups where you can try out Tamater dhaniya ka shorba; Palak soup or Murg badam ka shorba. Tamater dhaniya ka shorba is a tomato soup with tangy flavour having indian twist, While Palak soup is a spinach soup with creamy texture and the Murg badam ka shorba is chicken soup with almonds having think consistency.
Now moving on to drinks, we tried out the Blue Lagoon, Bloody Mary, Planters Punch and Margarita. I was very amazed by the flavorful taste of the drinks mostly being aerated, savor and sweet with different flavors.
They have a wide range of appetizers in both veg and non veg. We had got the Bikaneri Seekh kebab, soya chaap tikka, chicken hussaini and sarson wali machi. I was very impressed with the Bikaneri Seekh kebab and soya chaap tikka as they were very delicious filled with a lot of different flavors. The mint sauce played a big role in enhancing the taste of the Bikaneri Seekh kebab and the soya chaap tikka was itself amazing with a bit of tangy flavour. Now moving on to Non Veg starters, the chicken hussaini and sarson wali machi were very soft and tender with nice marination. I would highly recommend these starters.
For main course we had Veg Lahori kofta, Paneer chatpata, Chicken mango curry, Mutton rogan gosht, Dal makhani, Dal khichidi, Veg biryani, Chicken biryani and Bread basket. I must say that food was excellent in terms of taste as they had the right proportion of spices which helped it to be very pleasant for the taste buds and this is also something one expects from a fine dining restaurant. The yogurt complimented pretty well with the Biryani’s. I would highly recommend the Veg Lahori kofta, Dal khichidi, Chicken biryani and Chicken mango curry.
Finally moving on to the desserts, we had Shahi Tukda and kulfi falooda. It was also pretty decent. I must say that this restaurant outshines in their variety of gravies, starters and rice dishes.
If you are a food lover, I would highly recommend you to try out this Indian fine dining restaurant in Howard Johnson hotel.
