At the beginning of last month, I had the opportunity to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Al Muqarabat. It is a 4-star property belonging to the Hilton hospitality Company with a worldwide presence. This property is situated along Abu Baker Al Siddique Road which can be regarded as one of the busiest streets in Dubai.
The moment you step inside the hotel, you forget the bustling outdoor environment and fell in love with the calm and peaceful environment within the hotel. The hotel strictly follows modernism architecture with a lot of use of concrete and glass. The designer seems to have understood the local climate context and shaded the complete glass facade side with mashrabiyah panel. While other side had smaller windows in order to prevent the solar radiation from penetrating. Branding signage of Hilton Garden Inn has been allocated at the topmost part of the hotel and above the entrance.
The interior of the hotel is also very modern and classy as a lot of glossy wooden finishes have been used throughout to provide a luxurious touch and as well as thick carpeting have been used in upper floors for sound absorption. Combination of architectural lightings have been integrated improve the convenience for occupants.
The king room had amenities such as 32 inch TV, work desk, mini-fridge, Herman Miller designed chair, complimentary kettle with tea and coffee and king size bed. The digitalized thermostat was also allocated next to the closet and all lighting controls were placed next to the bed which seem to be very convenient while sleeping. I felt that the designer tried to emphasize a lot on user convenience as a lot of sockets and controls were available on desks and next to the bed.
The Gym and Swimming pool was located on the rooftop with a separate changing room for male and females. During night time the swimming area used to be changed into sheesha lounge as there was a smaller seating area.
It was impressive to see how they had a business lounge with two computers and a photocopier which can be very helpful for guests.
My overall experience with this hotel was amazing and the staff were also very supportive and helpful to give guidance. I would highly recommend travellers to choose this hotel if they want to experience leaving in central Deira. From the perspective of an architect, I believe that the hotel has been completely designed from the idea to meet all the necessities and demands of the guests. I also observed that they have particular types of rooms with universal design features.
